The American bishops have proposed a bill to protect life

A few days ago, American bishops sent to the House of Representatives of the U.S. Congress three bills to protect life. This includes specific proposals to protect workers' freedom of conscience of medicine and to avoid the use of taxes to fund abortions.

As reported by Zenit, letters were sent to the President of the Committee of the "For Life" American Episcopal Conference, Cardinal Daniel Di Nardo. The prelate said he was ready to address gaps in health system reform and bring it in line with the policy on abortion and freedom of conscience, which has long prevailed in other federal health programs.



The purpose of the proposed bill is to discourage the use of public funds for abortions. Moreover, the need for clarity in the wording to create projects of medical care that would protect workers' freedom of conscience of medicine, refusing to participate in these projects. "The bill states the fundamental principle - wrote Cardinal Di Nardo, - none of Healthcare structure should not be forced by the Government to perform abortions or to participate in their implementation."
